Dear Sirs

The 14th Brooklyn hosts a School of the Soldier / Company each year here on Long Island at the Old Bethpage Village Restoration (OBVR). We would like to invite all units who would like to attend our camp of instruction.

There is no charge to attend this event. The dates will be Saturday April 25th & Sunday April 26th. However most of us will be arriving on Friday the 24th. And this will be a good opportunity for infantry units to learn to work together in a battalion/regimental atmosphere.

OBVR is a perfect setting for a Civil War event with over 200 acres of recreated historical landscaping and over 50 historic structures including an inn, two general stores, an 1845 schoolhouse, an 1857 church, hat shop, blacksmith shop, and many period homes and farmhouses.

It is an easy trip from all points and contrary to popular belief there is no need to drive thru Manhattan. It is approximately 25 miles east of the Verazzano Bridge.

If you are interested and would like more information please email me at
skibbo14@aol.com

If you know of any other companies or individuals that would like to attend please pass this on to them as well.

You need to respond no later than March 15th as to whether or not your company intends on attending so that we can be sure that we accommodate everyone with wood and straw, etc.

I Remain
Your Obedient Servant,

Captain Frank Ruiz Sr.
