Camp Wood Arlington Va Aug 10th /61
Sir
The undersigned now holding the position of
Capt of E Comp 14 Regt. N.Y.S.M. now in the service
of the United States,
In consequence of having business connections that
are very much neglected by his absence and
knowing that nobody but himself can attend
to the same having asked for a leave of absence
which was as He supposes properly for the service
refused, deems it His duty in justice to Himself and
family to tender his resignation.
Your petitioner would respectfully represent that
He is not under arrest or amenable to Court Martial
for any deficiency or delinquency and that He
Has delivered over all books, papers, and monies
in His possession to the Officer entitled by law
to receive the same.
Your petitioner solicits that you will
be pleased to accept His resignation uncondi-
tionally and grant Him an unconditional discharge.
