    Obituary

    William Henry Middleton died at his home, 576 Washington avenue, Sunday. He was born in New York City on January 15, 1828, and at the time of his death was among the oldest dealers in Fulton Market, he being a member of the firm Middleton, Carman & Co. He was a clerk in the firm of W.M. Rogers & Co., succeeding Mr. Rogers, founded in 1812. He rose from a clerkship to a membership in the firm, afterward merged into the one of which he was a senior partner. He had been in the wholesale and retail fish trade for more than forty years. He moved to Brooklyn in 1844 and had lived on the Heights and in the Twentieth Ward since that time. His father and he were prominent in the old First Baptist Church and he afterward united with Immanuel Baptist Church. The Rev. John Humpstone will conduct the funeral services this afternoon. Mr. Middleton was a member of the Limcoln Club, of the Hoboken Turtle Club and of the Society of Old Brooklynites, and a veteran of the Fourteenth Regiment. He is survived by his widow, four daughters and two sons.
