Died: - September 2, 1862 of wounds received at Second Bull Run.

Buried: Grave 42-7-4 Asylum Cemetery, Washington D.C.
Body brought back to Family Plot, Grave #1, Lot #4176, Section 92/93,
Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn, New York.

Occupation: Grocer's Clerk.

Enlisted: - May 18, 1861 at Brooklyn, New York to serve 3 years (aged 22 years).
Mustered In - May 23, 1861 as private in Company D.

Wounded In Action:
Received mortal head wound on August 30, 1862 at the Battle of Second Bull Run,
Manassas, Virginia. Sent to Armory Square General Hospital in Washinton, D.C.

    Died of Wounds: At Washington D.C. on September 2, 1862.

    Obituary:
    On Tuesday Sept 2nd from wounds received near Centerville, VA on Aug 30, Stephen H.
    son of Harmon P and Sarah H. Thatford. His remians were interred in their family plot at
    Greenwood Cemetery on Sunday last. GAR Post #3 (Named in his honor).

    Parents:
    Father - Harmon Pruyn Thatford (1809 - 1862).
    Mother - Sarah Hicks Thatford (1813 - 1864).

    Married: Never Married.
